Exodus 13:17 NIV
When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, “If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.”

God can read their mind. The route to red sea was pkanned by God.

The fear factor

Luke 1:17 NIV
And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”

Do not be afraid.

But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John.

Isaiah 43. 2.

Isaiah 43:2 NIV
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.

God will never remove obstacles. But he will assist in passing through it.

Genesis.15. Abraham faith

Genesis 15:2 NIV
But Abram said, “Sovereign Lord , what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?”

At one hand Abraham was childless,  then God promised him the offspring as many as stars.

Genesis 15:5 NIV
He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”

If this happen today, I must said God you are crazy. I am 100 years old now and going to have the children as many as stars. You kidding me God.

The Sarai tempted Abraham by giving him Hagar. I would believe Abraham also did not have 100% faith at time.

Genesis 16:3 NIV
So after Abram had been living in Canaan ten years, Sarai his wife took her Egyptian slave Hagar and gave her to her husband to be his wife.

Ten years of waiting. Tested Abraham faith with God promise.

Genesis 16:2 NIV

By God's  design,  I am the head of the family.
By God's  design,  I am wonderful
By God's design,  I am fearful
By God's design,  I am faithful
By God's design,  I am obedient

The seven good cows are seven years, and the seven good heads of grain are seven years; it is one and the same dream. The seven lean, ugly cows that came up afterward are seven years, and so are the seven worthless heads of grain scorched by the east wind: They are seven years of famine.

Genesis 40. Joseph interpret dream

Genesis 40:9-11 NIV
So the chief cupbearer told Joseph his dream. He said to him, “In my dream I saw a vine in front of me, and on the vine were three branches. As soon as it budded, it blossomed, and its clusters ripened into grapes. Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand, and I took the grapes, squeezed them into Pharaoh’s cup and put the cup in his hand.”

Genesis 39:23 NIV
The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph’s care, because the Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.

Genesis 38, Judah

This chapter a bit messy. Brother slept with brother wife. Father slept with daughter  in law.

Genesis 38:9-10 NIV
But Onan knew that the child would not be his; so whenever he slept with his brother’s wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from providing offspring for his brother. What he did was wicked in the Lord ’s sight; so the Lord put him to death also.

Why God consider Onan as wicked?  You are suppose to sleep with your btot b we wife  after he pass away?

Genesis 38:15-16 NIV
When Judah saw her, he thought she was a prostitute, for she had covered her face. Not realizing that she was his daughter-in-law, he went over to her by the roadside and said, “Come now, let me sleep with you.” “And what will you give me to sleep with you?” she asked.

Judah slept with his daughter in law thought that she was a prostitute. So prostitution exist back then. Is prostitution not wicked?  Why God did not punish Judah?

Genesis 32:7 NIV

Genesis 19, Lot and his daughter

Not sure why this was allowed? Both the older and younger did the same

Genesis 19:33 NIV
That night they got their father to drink wine, and the older daughter went in and slept with him. He was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up.

Who is Moabites  and Ammonite?

Genesis 19:37 NIV
The older daughter had a son, and she named him Moab ; he is the father of the Moabites of today.

Genesis 19:38 NIV
The younger daughter also had a son, and she named him Ben-Ammi ; he is the father of the Ammonites of today.

Later in Numbers  and Deut there will be more on Moabites and Ammonites.

Numbers 25:1-3 NIV
While Israel was staying in Shittim, the men began to indulge in sexual immorality with Moabite women, who invited them to the sacrifices to their gods. The people ate the sacrificial meal and bowed down before these gods. So Israel yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor. And the Lord ’s anger burned against them.

Genesis 19, don't look back

A very clear instructions was given -don't look back.

Genesis 19:17 NIV
As soon as they had brought them out, one of them said, “Flee for your lives! Don’t look back, and don’t stop anywhere in the plain! Flee to the mountains or you will be swept away!”

Man  curiosity sometime can be the killer!

But Lot’s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.

Genesis 19, Sodom

The word Sodomised  were derived from here.

Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house. They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.”

Man wickedness were total wiped out during Noah  time. Now during Abraham time another small scale.

IF THE CITY WAS WICKED,  GOD CAN TAKE THE DOWN.

Similarly apply to man. if we are wicked God can destroyed us as well. But why there are still so many wicked in this world?

Do Sodomised  or homosexual is wicked from  the eyes of God. This is very clear.

How Sodom was destroyed?

Genesis 19:24 NIV
Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the Lord out of the heavens.

Genesis 18, negotiate

Genesis 18:24 NIV
What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it?

Abraham negotiated with God for Sodom. From 50,  40, 20  and lastly 10.

Genesis 18:32 NIV
Then he said, “May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?” He answered, “For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it.”

Can I negotiate with God?  But what to negotiate?

Genesis 15. God promise land

Genesis 15:18 NIV
On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram and said, “To your descendants I give this land, from the Wadi of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates—

Wadi of Egypt  is in Egypt  and Ephrata river basically in Iraq. So is the promise land span from Iraq to Egypt ?

Genesis 15. 400 years slaves

God foretold Abraham on the slavery of Jewish in Egypt where Moses brought them out later

Genesis 15:13 NIV
Then the Lord said to him, “Know for certain that for four hundred years your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own and that they will be enslaved and mistreated there.

Genesis 16, Ishmael

Hagar  run away and sympathy  by the Lord and was blessed.

Genesis 16:10 NIV
The angel added, “I will increase your descendants so much that they will be too numerous to count.”

Genesis 16:11 NIV
The angel of the Lord also said to her: “You are now pregnant and you will give birth to a son. You shall name him Ishmael,  for the Lord has heard of your misery.

I remember Ishmael  become the other half brother is Christian.

Need to Google.

God actually plan for Ishmael to be someone rebelled. Why?

Genesis 16:12 NIV
He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone’s hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward all his brothers.”

Genesis 16, Hagar

Genesis 16:2 NIV
so she said to Abram, “The Lord has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my slave; perhaps I can build a family through her.” Abram agreed to what Sarai said.

Sarai  actually told Abraham  to sleep with  Hagar and hope to get a child. When the thing happened as plan Sarai cannot take it and blame Abraham.

Genesis 16:5 NIV
Then Sarai said to Abram, “You are responsible for the wrong I am suffering. I put my slave in your arms, and now that she knows she is pregnant, she despises me. May the Lord judge between you and me.”

Genesis 12. Jesus foretold

Genesis 12:2-3 NIV
“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.    I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

In Genesis 12, God already planned for Jesus to come as savior - all people on earth will be blessed through you.

Genesis 11, Tower of Babel

Genesis 11:4 NIV
Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.”

Here not understand why they wanted to built the tower. What it mean otherwise they will be scattered ?

Genesis 11:7 NIV
Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”

創世記 11:7 我們下去,在那裡變亂他們的口音,使他們的言語,彼此不通。 (分享自Android快速聖經)

Notice 'let us' not let Me. So God sent angels down to confused them ?

Book of Jubilee,  from wiki,  God did tumbled down the tower with strong wind. It also mentioned the height of the tower about 8000 ft  or 3 times of Burj  Khalifa,  the world tallest building now. So we are far behind the tower of babel.

Bible did not mentioned the name of the tower. Also did not mentioned the tower was tumble down.

Genesis 11, language

Genesis 11:1 NIV
Now the whole world had one language and a common speech.

How Adam  and Eve speak?  Eve actually  spoken to the serpent.

And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden;

Genesis 8, Ararat

Genesis 8:4 NIV
and on the seventeenth day of the seventh month the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.

Genesis 8, multiply

This is the second time God Talk About Multiply.

To Adam  and Eve
Genesis 1:28 NIV
God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

Noah was like another new beginning and God talk about the multiplying again.

Genesis 9:1 NIV
Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth.

Genesis 9:7 NIV
As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it.”

Genesis 8, God promise post flood

Genesis 8:21 NIV
The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: “Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even though every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done.

God promised  never flood the earth like this again.

Genesis 9:13 NIV
I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.

Genesis 8, 4 seasons

Genesis 8:22 NIV
“As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.”

First-time in the bible mentioned about 4 seasons  -summer and winter.

Watched somewhere about the planet X,  it cross the earth and magnetic  field actually causing the earth axis to be twisted. That created 4 session.

Genesis 8, 150 days post flood

Genesis 7:24 NIV
The waters flooded the earth for a hundred and fifty days.

Genesis 8:3 NIV
The water receded steadily from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days the water had gone down,

150  days ,  flooded the earth
150 days, water receded

Genesis 7, Flood. All mankind perished

Genesis 7:21 NIV
Every living thing that moved on land perished—birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind.

All mankind perished.

Genesis 7:24 NIV
The waters flooded the earth for a hundred and fifty days.

150 days

Genesis 7, 600 years

6Genesis 7:11 NIV
In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, on the seventeenth day of the second month—on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened.

I remember  Discover Ministry link this to end time. 600th  year as year of the floodgates from heaven open and the mankind of whole earth perish.

4000 years prior Jesus  and 2000 post Jesus  is 6000 years.

So as long as for the years we are there. Then now the 17th day of the 2nd month. When is this 2  and 17?  2017? 2170? 2270?

Genesis 7, animals in ark

Genesis 7:2 NIV
Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate,

Genesis 7:3 NIV
and also seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth.

7 pairs of clean animal
1 pair of unclean animal
7 pairs of birds

Why God still keep the unclean animals?

What is unclean animal?  The one that I knew is pig. What Else ?

From Wiki

2 criteria to categories the animal as unclean  - Ruminate and cloves hoof

Ruminate  basically mean chew again. Animals such as cow, goat etc they chew the  grass again and again from stomach before fully digested.

Clover hoof mean hoof split into 2.

Pig did not fulfill the above 2 criteria  hence consider as unclean.

I am yet to see the real different between goat and pig hoof?

Genesis 6. God regretted

Genesis 6:6 NIV
The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled.

Genesis 6:7 NIV
So the Lord said, “I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground—for I regret that I have made them.”

Why God regretted?

Genesis 6:2-3 NIV
the sons of God saw that the daughters of humans were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. Then the Lord said, “My Spirit will not contend with humans forever, for they are mortal ; their days will be a hundred and twenty years.”

This was the time where God limit the man age  to 120 years old. This was the first punishment.

The the second is to wipe up all creatures.

Genesis 6. Noah the Ark

God did not just  tell Noah build the ark. But gave a details plan how big and the design of the ark  similar thing also happen when the temple was built by Solomon.

Genesis 6:14-16 NIV
So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out. This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be three hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide and thirty cubits high.  Make a roof for it, leaving below the roof an opening one cubit high all around. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks.

Genesis 6. Nephilim

Genesis 6:4 NIV
The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.

Try to see what is Chinese word for it. But can't find a good word.

Google will be able to see some pictures.

Genesis 4. Multiply

It was mentioned twice in Genesis 4. First-time is Cain,  second time was Seth.

Genesis 4:1 NIV

Genesis 4:25 NIV
Adam made love to his wife again, and she gave birth to a son and named him Seth, saying, “God has granted me another child in place of Abel, since Cain killed him.”

Back at Genesis 1,  God told man to multiply.

Genesis 1:28 NIV
God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

Genesis 4. Jubal and Tubal-Cain

Genesis 4:21 NIV
His brother’s name was Jubal; he was the father of all who play stringed instruments and pipes.

Genesis 4:22 NIV
Zillah also had a son, Tubal-Cain, who forged all kinds of tools out of bronze and iron. Tubal-Cain’s sister was Naamah.

Below website actually argue  that man at that time were very intelligent than now. This is due to their perfect built.

They  already know how to built musical instrument  and make some tool with bronze and iron.

Cain was the first children of Adam and Eve.

Genesis 4:2 NIV

God favor Abel.
Genesis 4:4 NIV
And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering,

Before  Cain  kill Abel,  God actually gave warning to Cain.

Genesis 4:7 NIV
If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”

Angry. jealousy. Can lead to killing.
Genesis 4:8 NIV
Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.” While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.

Genesis 4:17 NIV

Genesis 3. The fall

Serpent - God describe them as crafty. Chinese got a good word 狡猾. Aldo notice here the serpent spoken to the woman  but not Adam. Why?  Woman are easily been tricked with food?

Genesis 3:1 NIV
Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”

創世記 3:1 耶和華神所造的,惟有蛇比田野一切的活物更狡猾。蛇對女人說:神豈是真說:不許你們吃園中所有樹上的果子嗎? (分享自Android快速聖經)

When God put them in the garden He already warn them not to eat the forbidden fruit.

Genesis 2:17 NIV
but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

Genesis 3:6 NIV
When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

4 things attract woman :-
1,  good for food
2, pleasing eyes
3,  gaining wisdom
4,  share with husband

Adam  trusted the wife just like that - he ate it  - without questioning?

Adam  blame God  put the woman there and cause him to be  sinned.

Genesis 3:12 NIV
The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”

Woman blame the serpent.

Genesis 3:13 NIV
Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

God punish or cursed the serpent  together with the woman.

Genesis 3:15 NIV
And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”

Enmity  - hostility.

創世記 3:15 我又要叫你和女人彼此為仇,你的後裔和女人的後裔,也彼此為仇,女人的後裔要傷你的頭,你要傷他的腳跟。 (分享自Android快速聖經)

Genesis 2. Woman was created

Genesis 2:18 NIV
The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”

God actually don't want Adam to be alone. Here very interesting God actually look for helper  for Adam. So woman is the helper to man.

Genesis 2:20 NIV
So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals. But for Adam no suitable helper was found.

God get all the animals to the Eden thought that they could be the helper  to Adam. But later discover it is not.

Genesis 2:21 NIV
So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh.
