Jeremiah summary

Finished Jeremiah finally,  a bit long and boring after thing keep repeating. One thing is that God constantly spoken to Jeremiah To Get His words across to Isrealite but unfortunately got rejected but them. Then God punishment pouring in one after another.

God is the jealous God. He got angry because Isreal worship other god or idol.

Jeremiah 1:16 NIV
I will pronounce my judgments on my people because of their wickedness in forsaking me, in burning incense to other gods and in worshiping what their hands have made.

I think we or may be I take for granted,  don't this amazing that the sea will never cross the line.

Jeremiah 5:22 NIV
Should you not fear me?” declares the Lord . “Should you not tremble in my presence? I made the sand a boundary for the sea, an everlasting barrier it cannot cross. The waves may roll, but they cannot prevail; they may roar, but they cannot cross it.

This is so wrong,  faceoff,  the word I can imagine. No wonderful God so mad.

Jeremiah 7:9-10 NIV
“ ‘Will you steal and murder, commit adultery and perjury, burn incense to Baal and follow other gods you have not known, and then come and stand before me in this house, which bears my Name, and say, “We are safe”—safe to do all these detestable things?

What God Command Is Very Simple . Obey.

Jeremiah 7:23 NIV
but I gave them this command: Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people. Walk in obedience to all I command you, that it may go well with you.

I thought stiff necked is Cantonese word but it not seem so.

Jeremiah 7:26 NIV
But they did not listen to me or pay attention. They were stiff-necked and did more evil than their ancestors.’

Words is deadly,  watch out of what come out from your mouth.

Jeremiah 9:8 NIV
Their tongue is a deadly arrow; it speaks deceitfully. With their mouths they all speak cordially to their neighbors, but in their hearts they set traps for them.

Idols,  god Is not make by your hand but we are made by God hand. Can you print your own money?  Yes you can buy they are not money.

Jeremiah 16:20-21 NIV
Do people make their own gods? Yes, but they are not gods!”   “Therefore I will teach them— this time I will teach them my power and might. Then they will know that my name is the Lord .

One after another of God wrath.

Jeremiah 19:15 NIV
“This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: ‘Listen! I am going to bring on this city and all the villages around it every disaster I pronounced against them, because they were stiff-necked and would not listen to my words.’ ”

Can you imagine you are asked by God to send across the message which against all odd. We cannot see in future but God can,  it is not easy to just obey God sometimes,  when thing doesn't make sense to us but it make sense to Him. Jeremiah also got upset.

Jeremiah 20:7 NIV
You deceived me, Lord , and I was deceived ; you overpowered me and prevailed. I am ridiculed all day long; everyone mocks me.

We are on the mercy of Lord.

Jeremiah 28:16-17 NIV
Therefore this is what the Lord says: ‘I am about to remove you from the face of the earth. This very year you are going to die, because you have preached rebellion against the Lord .’ ”   In the seventh month of that same year, Hananiah the prophet died.

God anger is not forever and he keep his promise.

Jeremiah 29:10-14 NIV
This is what the Lord says: “When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my good promise to bring you back to this place. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord , “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord , “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the Lord , “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.”
