Luke 17:3 NIV
So watch yourselves. “If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them.
I saw some where I think in FB - I can forgive you but I never trust you again.
What is forgives mean?
Christianity stack exchange pit it in an interesting way.
Forgiveness is like a transaction. Offender ask for forgiveness and you forgive. But and sell. Asked and given.
It put it into 3 scenarios
1. Offend done, offender ask for forgiveness, you forgive. Done.
2. Offend done, you told the offender that you are offended. Offender asked and you forgive. Done.
3. Offend done. You told offender. Ignore and rejected. You cannot forgive. There is no deal done.

This is a light with Luke 17. Rebuke the offender and if they repent then only you can forgive them.
What happen if they did not recognize the offend, you cannot forgive. No Deal done.
Then the burden will stuck with you forever?
Again the Christianity stack exchange actually suggested to do some symbolic act and to let go the burden.
This is between man and man.
Between man and God, Jesus wanted man to ask.for forgiveness and Jesus is willing to.give anytime.
Seek you shall be given. And Knock The Door Shall Be Open.
